Due to all the dazzling events these days, a busy social butterfly might think it was the height of season, rather than the dog days of summer! Even as we planned our outfits for Saturday night's Arts for Act auction, there were plenty of other soirees to keep us quite occupied in the meantime. For instance, when the P.O.L.O Club of Lee County learned that the food pantry at the Island Coast AIDS Network was running low, the charitable group stepped up to the plate by quickly organizing a happy hour benefit at Sal's Long Shot Lounge downtown. Guests brought donations of canned goods, while pizza and the chances to win fab raffle items were provided for incentive. Sal's was brimming with fun-loving P.O.L.O Club members and their friends on Wednesday night, as everyone relaxed after work for a good cause. Claire De Stoppelaire was decked out in a sparkling silver tank and jeans, while Alisha Bouanani chatted with Brian Solt at the bar. Sal's manager, Larry Genta, hovered about and made sure everything was running smoothly, while P.O.L.O. Club president Patricia Williams presided over the raffle. Downtown resident Gloria Ortino held court at a center table, while Cynthia Duff and Bonnie Knoll enjoyed a girls' night out. |
