Welcome!

Events Coming Up

Fri., Dec. 5: POLO Holiday Party! The POLO family has been more than nice this year, they have been FABULOUS! Donations have been made to Animal Refuge Center, American Cancer Society, Abuse Council and Treatment Center and Ronald McDonald House to name a few. Countless hours have been volunteered to beach clean-up, ICAN, American Heart Association, March of Dimes and Greater Fort Myers Chamber.

So now it's time to relax and celebrate at H2! The festivities begin at 7:30 PM . POLO awards will take place at 9 PM as well as the all important "White Elephant Gift Exchange". Your wrapped gift should be appropriate for a man or woman, valued between $10-$25. Numbers will be drawn to determine who picks first--you can either pick an item from the table or a gift someone else has already unwrapped. Lots of fun and a little wrestling! This party is open to all POLO members, current and past. Bring a friend for an extra holiday surprise!

Who we are, what we do

Professionals Organized for Leadership and Opportunity (P.O.L.O.) Club of Lee County, Inc. is a club of business professionals in Lee County, Florida who hold fundraisers, events and other volunteering opportunities for local charities. In addition, the club is a resource for social and business networking. Everything P.O.L.O. does is fun and helpful to the community.

Fun!

We work constantly to create a fun social calendar for members and guests alike. If you're new to the Fort Myers area, come join us! Many new members have reported that P.O.L.O. provides a great way to get acquainted with what SW Florida has to offer, and meet a great group of people, besides!

Regular "social fare" includes:

  • Monthly Dinner Nights at fine local area restaurants like Bonefish Grill, Sam Seltzer's, Delicious Things in downtown Fort Myers, and Houlihan's in Cape Coral. Wet Your Whistle Wednesdays (on the 3rd Wednesday of each month) and First Fridays (you guessed it: the first Friday of the month) provide a regular way for POLO members to get together and relax, whether it's a local bistro or at another activity. Either way, it's a great break from the routine! Sports activities! Hockey nights, kayak events, ice skating outings, spring/summer golf clinics
  • Other community events If you've ever stayed home because "there's no one to go with", we just took away your wallflower card! Join the P.O.L.O. gang at a host of local social activities. See the Social page for details.

Helpful to the Community!

Founded in 1989, P.O.L.O. Club of Lee County has established a long track record for fulfilling its mission in SW Florida. In addition to being the founding organization of Jazz on the Green, SW Florida's premier outdoor jazz concert, P.O.L.O. has created events such as the Bachelor Auction, Big Wheel Rally and Fort Myers Alive! Block Parties. P.O.L.O. worked with Bell Tower Shops to organize and promote "Friday Fest", the popular monthly music event and fundraiser. Our regular beach cleanups at Lovers Key State Park provide an opportunity to contribute to the well-being of one of the most beautiful stretches of sand in the country, and have fun doing it.

In 2007, we raised over $8,000 for local charities with events like the spring Bachelor Auction, the second annual Pub Crawl in Ft. Myers' River District, and cooperative ventures with other Lee County event planners. Over the years, P.O.L.O. has raised over $315,000 for local charitable organizations.

The gang gathers around the large check (in every sense of the word) presented to Special Equestrians, one of the beneficiaries of the 2008 Bachelor Auction.
